"I'm very happy to give you some updates regarding my future academic plans.
I have been accepted to the Integrated PhD program in Computer Science at Chennai Mathematical Institute.. I have decided to accept this offer. At CMI, I intend to study and work on Arithmetic Circuit Complexity theory and related areas. I graduated from RKMVERI Kolkata with an M.Sc in Mathematics last month.
Apart from this, I have also been accepted to the PhD program in Computer Science at ISI (can choose any of Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai campuses) with a rank of 2.
I have also secured a rank of 3 in the JEST exam (Theoretical Computer Science paper) held on 25 Jul. I have also cleared the NBHM PhD Scholarship Exam held on 18 Aug.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Wg Cdr VM Rao and Dr. Chhaya Bhargava. Chhaya Ma'am had started teaching me chemistry on and off since I was in the 9th Standard, and she taught me rigorously in the 12th Standard when I was studying at CMR NPS. I joined Rao Sir's physics tuition class after several outstanding reviews from his old students. He taught me physics when I was in the 12th Standard. Even though I ended up majoring in mathematics, it is thanks to Rao Sir's and Chhaya Ma'am's outstanding teaching and constant support and encouragement that I decided to go into pure science research in the first place! I didn't have much natural ability in physics or chemistry, but it is thanks to their adherence to fundamental concepts and their uncanny knack of making students understand and remember everything deeply without much effort on the students' side that I could learn so much, and most importantly, really enjoy my 12th Standard studies, even though it happens to be one of the most stressful years in a student's life!
I sincerely hope many of you reading this think about studying and going into a research career in pure science. It is loads of fun, extremely challenging, and highly satisfying. With Rao Sir's and Chhaya Ma'am's teaching and guidance, you need not even worry a bit about grasping the fundamentals and prerequisites that are necessary for this career path!

"The teachers and community at Laksh Academy have been pivotal to my academic journey. Not only did they help me grasp concepts and prepare adequately for in-school and board exams, but they also massively helped build my confidence in myself – both boards-related and otherwise – which is half the battle, in my view.
I started at Laksh in the 11th grade when I began learning Chemistry with Chaya ma’am. Prior to that, having only learnt chemistry in school, my mindset was that if I was able to answer questions on tests, my understanding of the subject was sufficient. Under ma’am’s tutelage I quickly learnt that that was only the tip of the iceberg, and that in order to truly excel in the subject I had to fully grasp the underlying ideas behind each answer. Through clear explanations (sometimes repeated), multiple iterations of diagrams and formulae, and highly effective tests (and occasional candy-related rewards), I learnt organic chemistry with a sort of clarity I’d never received in school.
Simultaneously, physics was always my most dreaded subject in school. Between constantly shifting physics teaching staff in school and my own disinterest and lack of understanding of the subject, I would receive the lowest marks in physics among all five subjects, and grew to hate it and be actively terrified of it. In fact, around the time I started attending Rao Sir’s classes, I would freeze during tests and panic terribly beforehand, leading my confidence to be at the lowest. However, Rao Sir’s crash course in physics proved to be a godsend. Not only did concepts actually start making sense rather than being a tangled mess in my head, but also, Sir would reassure us about the board exams by giving us helpful tips rather than further intimidating us by telling us how difficult it would be. His classes slowly built up my confidence when I needed it the most, and in a very poetic way, I went from scoring the lowest marks in physics that I had ever received in all 14 years of school, to receiving the highest board marks in physics across all my subjects (97%). I even went on to take a physics class in college for fun – something I wouldn’t even dream of doing two years before.
I am truly grateful to Laksh Academy and both the abovementioned teachers for guiding me through my coursework when I most needed it. After graduating from school, I went on to study Economics and Business at the University of California, Berkeley, leaving chemistry and physics behind perhaps literally but retaining the study methods and larger life lessons I learnt at Laksh right through."

"Laksh Academy was like my second home when I was in twelfth grade. I attended Chhaya ma’am’s chemistry classes, Rao sir’s physics classes and also began taking Anil sir’s maths classes in the second half of the year. Classes at Laksh Academy were the perfect combination of fun and learning. The teachers here are highly experienced and so well-versed in their subjects that all of us in class began enjoying these subjects genuinely and started working really hard at them. Every morning we would be quizzed on the concepts taught earlier- this made sure that we were up to date with the portions and also made sure that we got our basics crystal clear. We would also have tests after every chapter, which covered every nook and corner of the chapters- this pushed us to learn even the tiniest of the important details, which we definitely would have missed otherwise. Towards the end of the year, we were given multiple well-curated pre-board papers based on previous year papers, because of which we were all well-prepared when our actual board exams came. The teachers here are very approachable and were always available for doubt-clearing sessions. As mentioned earlier, I had joined Anil Sir’s class in the second half of the year. I had some of the most basic doubts and some very important concepts weren’t as clear as they should have been. But sir made sure that he was always available whenever I needed any sort of extra assistance and sat down with me – even towards the end of the year- and patiently explained these concepts. Our teachers here at Laksh truly cared about the progress of every single student and paid attention to each of our needs. High school is usually the time when we feel most uncertain about what we should be doing next, how to prepare for competitive exams etc, but our teachers used to be very supportive, understanding and offered us guidance in every step of the way. I secured 99/100 in Chemistry, 97/100 in Mathematics and 95/100 in Physics in my CBSE board exams and went on to top my school with a 96.6%. I am a 100% certain that this wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t attended classes at Laksh Academy. My aggregate in the core subjects -PCMC (97.5%) helped me in getting into National University of Singapore for a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Chhaya ma’am in fact was the one who had told me to apply to NUS – long before we even gave the board exams, because that’s the kind of belief she had in me. Although I applied a year late and had to decline the offer due to some other reasons, getting into this prestigious university is what gave me a shot of confidence at a time when I needed it the most. My teachers in Laksh Academy were and always will be the most amazing set of teachers I’ve had the privilege of studying under. "It gives me immense pleasure in writing this recommendation in favor of Laksh Academy. I am an alumnus of The Lawrence School, Lovedale and I graduated my 12th grade in PCM, CBSE. My entire 12th grade was mostly online due to the COVID-19 Pandemic outbreak and I am sure we all know the problems we faced when transitioning to online classes. During these critical and trying times, Laksh was tremendously helpful for me and was an academy that provided premier support and guidance whenever and how many ever times I needed. I would say that not only did Chhaya Ma'am's class help me understand a subject which I was very poor in, but in fact it helped me find a new interest altogether. Even though the class has almost 10-15 people at the same time, Ma'am never failed to give time and attention to everyone. I was able to get all my doubts cleared and found Ma'am extremely approachable. There were regular tests conducted in order to reinforce concepts that were taught in class.
